A bout of cosmic good fortune comes to all Atari VCS owners as the iconic games publisher Atari announces the timed exclusive launch of Gravitar: Recharged, now available on the system.
Ahead of the global multi-platform launch on June 2, 2022, Atari VCS owners can head for the galactic skies in Gravitar: Recharged as a spaceship captain on a mission to find home. Much like the previous Atari Recharged series installments, Gravitar: Recharged holds true to the original’s gameplay and retro feel while introducing contemporary gameplay elements, as well as optimized performance for modern hardware and controllers.
Gravitar: Recharged is a 21st-century reimagining of a hidden gem from 1982. The incredibly ambitious title took the “rotate, thrust, and fire” gameplay of Asteroids and Space Duel, combined them with the gravity mechanics of Lunar Lander, and added the intrigue of deep space exploration. The result was a notoriously challenging arcade game that captured the imagination of enthusiasts but failed to become a commercial success upon its release. Gravitar: Recharged and the entirety of the Atari Recharged series is made in collaboration with developers Adamvision Studios and SneakyBox. Award-winning artist and composer Megan McDuffee created the dreamy, spacey original soundtrack. The game launches on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Atari VCS, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) on June 2, 2022.
