The 3rd incarnation is a charm (4th if you include the 1994 unreleased Roger Corman version)

Like Superman we are thrown straight into the world of Fantastic 4, the beautiful futuristic 60s aesthetic feels like Madmen meets Star Trek with a splash of Marvel thrown in.

There’s a fantastic montage of how our heroes came to be, complete with a beautiful homage to the original 1961 #1 cover & a few other Jack Kirby nods thrown in.

All the cast work perfectly together, we really feel like this is a family who supports, loves & annoys each other.

Galactus was finally portrayed correctly instead of a space fart like in the 2007 “F4: Rise of the silver surfer”

The change of Silver Surfer was originally disappointing but the chemistry between Johnny Storm and the female herald worked really well for the overall story.

I can’t fault too much about this film, each character had their moments to shine.

Some have complained it’s light on action but Fantastic 4 has always been more heavy on Scifi so I really think Marvel has captured something brilliant this time around and I look forward to returning to these characters again in Avengers: Dooms Day.
