Greener Pastures Sydney Screening with Tim McEwen & Michael Michalandos

Tuesday night director Nik Kacevski and comic book creators Michael Michalandos and Tim McEwen had an industry screening of their short film adaption of Greener Pastures, an award-winning and internationally distributed Australian indie comic.

They packed out the cinema and it was followed by a Q&A hosted by David A. Quinn

"An excellent turn out for the short film that is the next logical step in the 35 year story of Greener Pastures. The audience was a mix of comic professionals, filmmakers, friends, family and in many cases a fine mix of all the above. Seeing the beloved bull, Trevor Bovis brought to life on screen through incredible artistry and ingenuity was an actually emotional moment for the usually reserved Tim (and the slightly more effusive Michael) which I honestly think was a relief for Nik Kacevski! It was a night about creativity, stories, passion projects and a burning desire to take a much loved story and a little bit of bull onto a new level."

Veterans of Australian comics gathered to support the film

Comic co-creator Tim McEwen stated after the event :

“It was certainly surreal standing next to Trevor on set while filming the Greener Pastures short, but what was even more overwhelming than seeing Trevor come to life like that was feeling the love in the room for him and us during the screening. It was an incredible night.”

Michael Michalandos comic co-creator who was also in attendance said:

“No one in that room felt that they were watching a man in a mask. This was Trevor Bovis, the down-trodden minotaur manifested on screen. He connected with us immediately. It’s a credit to the amazing work of Make-up Effects Group (MEG) and Alistair Bates.”

The premiere marked a triumphant next step for Greener Pastures and its creators, a story that's clearly resonating with audiences in its new form.
