Supanova Comic Con & Gaming is excited to announce that Karl Urban, who stars as Earthrealm fighter, Johnny Cage, in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 film, will be joining the Supa-Star line-up for the Gold Coast event exclusively for Sunday, 12 April 2026.

Known to Supa-Fans as the ruthless Billy Butcher in Prime Video’s global smash hit The Boys, Urban has built an impressive career across some of the biggest genre franchises of the past two decades. Audiences will also recognise him as Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in the modern Star Trek films, Éomer in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and from roles in Thor: Ragnarok, Dredd, and Xena: Warrior Princess, as well as the recently released Prime Video film, The Bluff! Urban’s appearance adds another major name to the Gold Coast event, giving Supa-Fans the chance to meet one of television’s most iconic anti-heroes in person.
Supanova also advises fans of several updates to the previously announced April guest line-up.
Due to a change in filming schedules, Frank Grillo is no longer able to attend the Gold Coast and Melbourne events. Production commitments for Superman 2 have been brought forward forcing the cancelation. Grillo sends his apologies while we look forward to seeing him back on the big screen soon as Rick Flag Sr.
Denise Richards has also had conflicting commitments impact her availability and will not be able to join us on the Gold Coast or in Melbourne. Denise sends her apologies to fans who were looking forward to meeting her and we hope to bring her to our shores again when our schedules next align.
Internationally acclaimed comic artist Peach Momoko will likewise no longer be attending following an unexpected health concern involving a close family member. Our thoughts are with Momoko and her family during this time and we ask that fans please respect her privacy.
Finally, fans should note a slight adjustment to Garrett Hedlund’s appearances. Due to a current production running longer than expected, and thereby pushing back his departure schedule, Hedlund will now be appearing exclusively at Supanova inMelbourne (18–19 April 2026).
While these changes are never easy, Supanova continues to work closely with talent and partners to deliver an unforgettable celebration of pop culture across both cities.
These updates join an already stellar line-up including Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Black Panther, The Batman), appearing exclusively in Melbourne on Saturday, alongside Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Bonnie Wright (Harry Potter), cast members of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and leading voices from global anime hits including Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen and One Punch Man, making this Supanova tour one of the most expansive celebrations of film, television, anime, comics and gaming in the event’s history.
Day, Weekend, and strictly limited Supa-Q and VIP Supa-Star Passes are on sale now for this year’s Gold Coast and Melbourne events. Secure your Supanova tickets now, ahead of the release of Autographs and Photograph Tokens closer to April.
