THE GUNDAM BASE AND TAMASHII NATIONS COMING SOON TO SYDNEY, AS BANDAI NAMCO OPENS FIRST OCEANIA FLAGSHIP STORES
Two of Japan's most iconic anime and collectible destinations come to Broadway Sydney this November
After years of import hauls, online pre-orders and product pilgrimages to Tokyo and beyond, Australian anime fans are finally getting a home of their own. Bandai Namco Asia, a leading company in toys, model kits and collectibles across Asia and Oceania, today announced THE GUNDAM BASE and TAMASHII NATIONS SYDNEY - two flagship stores opening at Mirvac’s Broadway Sydney in November 2026.
The first-ever Oceania destinations for both brands, the openings land at a pivotal moment for anime, model-building and collectibles in Australia, as demand for the category surges across the country.

THE GUNDAM BASE
Fresh off the sold-out success of the GUNDAM BASE POP-UP WORLD TOUR in Sydney in 2025, THE GUNDAM BASE SYDNEY opens as Australia's first permanent home for GUNDAM - one of Japan's most iconic entertainment franchises.
For more than 45 years, Mobile Suit Gundam has captured generations of fans, growing from a TV series into a sprawling universe of film, manga, novels, video games and GUNPLA - its popular range of plastic model kits, which has taken Australia by storm. Shipments of GUNPLA are on track to exceed 3 million units in Oceania by November 2026, part of more than 840 million sold worldwide since 1980.
THE GUNDAM BASE SYDNEY will stock a wide range of GUNPLA and related merchandise, including exclusive models. Whether you’re a first-time builder looking for an accessible kit or an experienced collector chasing a rare release, the store is designed to welcome everyone, with large-scale displays, intricate dioramas and regular events turning a shopping trip into a full immersion in the exciting world of GUNDAM.

TAMASHII NATIONS STORE
Opening alongside THE GUNDAM BASE, TAMASHII NATIONS STORE, the world's premier collectors' brand, arrives on Australian shores for the first time, with premium figures and collectibles spanning beloved franchises, including DRAGON BALL, ONE PIECE and more.
The flagship gives Australian and visiting collectors direct access to an extensive line-up of premium finished figures and collectibles, including more than 50 products available exclusively in this store alone. With rotating showcases of upcoming releases and a calendar of exclusive events, TAMASHII NATIONS STORE SYDNEY it's set to become the gathering point for Australia's collector community.
"Australia is home to one of the world's most engaged anime and hobby communities, and the opening of these two flagships is testament to the country's fast-growing desire to connect with and explore Japanese culture” said Hiroyuki Fujita, President, Bandai Namco Asia. “The flagships will be far more than retail spaces - they're destinations designed to connect with existing fans and welcome the future community, from immersive displays and prototype showcases to events and exclusive products found nowhere else in the world. They’re a long awaited home for Australian fans and collectors, and a new hub for visitors from across Australia, the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.”
"Anime, collectibles and fandom culture have become powerful cultural movements, connecting communities through shared passions and experiences,” said Alison Flemming, Mirvac’s General Manager, Asset Management - Retail & Build to Rent. “We're proud to welcome THE GUNDAM BASE and TAMASHII NATIONS STORE to Broadway Sydney in a first for Australia, creating a dedicated destination for fans to connect with the brands, creativity and culture they love. The arrival of these globally significant concepts reflects our commitment to continually evolving our customer experience and bringing world-class experiences to Sydney."
